Cashmere

Community Description

The city of Cashmere, considered the geographical center of Washington state, is located along Highway 2/97 and the Wenatchee River, and is surrounded by orchards and the Cascade foothills. Although agriculture plays a big role in the city’s economy — in addition to orchards there are several fruit processors and packers —  Cashmere is mostly a residential community, with a large chunk of its population commuting to nearby Wenatchee for employment. Attractions include the Liberty Orchards’ Aplets & Cotlets factory, antique malls, the historic downtown, restaurants and the Chelan County Expo Center. The Wenatchee River is the most popular whitewater rafting river in the state, with many rafters taking out at Cashmere’s Riverfront Park. Mountain bikers also flock to the nearby Devil’s Gulch Trail, considered one of the best rides in the state.
